UK Sales Manager
Braintree, Essex
Full-Time (40 hours per week, or as required)

£65,000 - £80,000 (OTE £85k–£110k)

Role Overview

Assure Personnel is recruiting on behalf of a reputable client for a UK Sales Manager. The successful candidate will lead, inspire, and develop the UK sales team while defining and executing strategic development plans. This senior commercial role focuses on securing high-value key accounts, optimising profitability metrics, and overseeing business operations within a matrix organisation. The position requires a hands-on, pragmatic leader who is comfortable traveling extensively across domestic and international territories.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead sales team operations: Manage recruitment, performance interviews, skill development, and conflict resolution.
  • Expand key account networks: Acquire and manage accounts across electrical distributors and wholesalers.
  • Execute strategic market deployment: Define commercial policy, pricing structures, and product growth strategies.
  • Monitor market and competitors: Identify market trends and track competitor actions to capture business.
  • Manage budget and compliance: Oversee department expenses, investments, margins, and legal compliance.
  • Coordinate cross-functional internal units: Collaborate closely with product management, R&D, and local service managers.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

Essential Criteria

  • Team leadership and coordination: Proven background managing small teams (5 to 15 collaborators).
  • Technical product sales background: Strong direct sales experience handling complex technical applications.
  • Core office technology literacy: Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Language and communication proficiency: Fluent written and spoken English with exceptional relationship-building skills.
  • High travel volume flexibility: Ability and willingness to travel between 40% to 70% of the time.

Desirable Criteria

  • Electrical industry sector focus: Proven sales track record specifically within the electrical supply sector.
  • Matrix corporate group familiarity: Experience operating within international corporate groups and matrix structures.
  • Advanced educational background standard: Bachelor's degree in engineering or an equivalent Master's degree.
  • Industrial market contract knowledge: Mastery of industrial sales, commercial contract typologies, and market competition.
  • Analytical and negotiation skills: Strong commercial synthesis, project management, and critical thinking capabilities.
