Clinical Coding & Data Quality Supervisor (Band 6)

We are urgently recruiting for an experienced Clinical Coding & Data Quality Supervisor to support an NHS organisation on a 3?month locum assignment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ACC?qualified Clinical Coding professional who can deliver high?quality coding, support backlog reduction, and provide leadership within a busy, regulated environment.

The Role:

You will play a key part in supervising Clinical Coders and Data Quality Officers, ensuring accurate, timely and compliant coding across a wide range of specialities. You will also support audit activity, data quality improvement and outpatient coding capture.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and mentor Clinical Coders & Data Quality Officers, including supporting training needs and development plans.
• Assist with the delivery of clinical coding audits, including feedback to coders and clinicians.
• Ensure all patient activity is coded accurately using ICD?10 and OPCS?4 in line with national standards.
• Provide guidance on coding queries, data quality issues and correction processes.
• Support outpatient coding capture, including development of outcome forms and clinician engagement.
• Review coding accuracy, undertake validation checks and identify training needs within the team.
• Liaise with clinical and clerical staff to resolve outstanding uncoded episodes and ensure timely PAS updates.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of coding processes, data quality dashboards and reporting.

You will need:

• NHS clinical coding experience (essential)
• National Clinical Coding Qualification (ACC)
• Minimum 5 years’ post?ACC experience across multiple specialities
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology and coding classifications
• Experience resolving data quality issues and supporting correction activity

Desirable Experience:

• Understanding of HRGs and financial flows
• Experience teaching or coaching junior coders on coding and data quality
• Knowledge of outpatient coding pathways and revenue impact
• Analytical skills and ability to work accurately under pressure
• Science or medical background
