Full job description

Would you like to be a part of a growing and successful Wiltshire Psychological Therapies Service (PTS), and also feel included and embedded within a MDT community mental health team (CMHT)?

This role is highly supported to form a secure platform for your future career, and to follow your clinical interests. Previous post-holders have moved on to higher banded posts within our service.

Sarum CMHT is located in Fountain Way, Salisbury; only a short stroll away from the centre. Salisbury is a beautiful cathedral city, with direct trains to London. It offers all the advantages of city living, whilst surrounded by beautiful countryside, and iconic archaeological sites including the world-famous Stonehenge.

Right to Work in the UK This position is not eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship. Applicants must already hold the legal right to work in the UK at the time of application, as the organisation is unable to support sponsorship for this post.

We are an enthusiastic and innovative PTS team who value the input and contribution of all our team members and strive to offer the best service possible to our service users. We offer a wide range of psychological therapies including CBT, EMDR, ACT, DBT, CAT, Integrative, Schema focused, Mindfulness, and Solution focused ways of working, in both group and individual contexts. Wiltshire PTS has been active in launching new therapeutic initiatives such as, compassion focused therapy groups, and acceptance and commitment therapy programmes.

We are looking for a compassionate, thoughtful and enthusiastic practitioner psychologist to join our friendly, close-knit team. We would welcome a psychologist who can demonstrate an interest in working with service users with severe and enduring mental health difficulties and a commitment to improving their wellbeing through direct clinical interventions and contributions to psychologically-informed care plans. We would particularly welcome someone with an interest in building the provision of evidence-based practice in an area of their interest (complex trauma, PTSD, mood disorders, psychosis or personality disorders).

We are looking for someone with the desire to develop their clinical skills to their full potential and would support this with regular supervision and line management from a senior practitioner psychologist, CPD and training.

We are the lead provider of healthcare for people with serious mental illness, learning disabilities and autism across Bath and North East Somerset (BaNES), Swindon and Wiltshire, and Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

We aim to provide High Quality, Compassionate Care everywhere, every day. This means our services will be safe, clinically effective and provide a positive all round experience for our patients, families and carers. And we believe passionately in treating everyone with kindness, respect and empathy.

Key to this is providing a supportive and safe environment for our 4,000 staff where we all feel welcome and able to do the best we can for those we support. Our staff and teams work incredibly hard delivering services across more than 90 locations, covering 2,200miles, to more than 1.8million people.

At AWP we actively encourage applicants from all backgrounds; we are particularly keen to encourage applications from people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds, those with disabilities and from the LGBTQ+ community. We want people to bring their unique blend of experiences, backgrounds, perspectives and knowledge to AWP, as diversity makes us stronger.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified psychologists for the above vacancy in the Sarum CMHT/ Wiltshire PTS. We will consider applicants coming to the end of their clinical/counselling psychology training who are looking to start their career here in Wiltshire.

Sarum CMHT is a multi-disciplinary secondary care team that specialises in delivering high quality interventions to adults of working age living across the south of Wiltshire.

You would be supported to offer psychological assessments of clients based in the community with severe and enduring mental health needs. These would then lead to a psychological formulation from which we would develop an intervention/care plan.

You will offer psychological therapy under expert supervision. This ranges from brief interventions to longer, time-limited therapeutic input depending on the need and presenting difficulties of the service user. Opportunities are available to specialise in specific psychological therapy models.

You will be advising non-psychologically trained staff in the psychological perspectives of mental health, and offering your view on psychological factors influencing other service users.
