Full job description

We are seeking a dedicated Nursery SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to join our team at our busy, vibrant all year nursery setting. The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting children with special educational needs and ensuring inclusive practice within the nursery environment.

Working hours would be:

12 hours per week, all year


12 hours a week, over 45 weeks (to include school summer holidays)

These would be worked in a shift pattern between 7.15am-6.15pm, as agreed with the Playcentre Manager

- Develop and implement individual education plans for children with special educational needs
- Provide support and guidance to nursery staff on best practices for supporting children with diverse needs
- Collaborate with external agencies, parents, and carers to ensure holistic support for children
- Monitor and track progress of children with special educational needs
- Conduct regular assessments and reviews to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions
- Deliver training sessions to staff on strategies for supporting children with additional needs
- Create a nurturing and inclusive environment that promotes the well-being and development of all children

- Qualified in Early Childhood Education or relevant field
- Experience in working with children with special educational needs, including behaviour management and speech therapy
- Knowledge of SEN Code of Practice and current legislation surrounding special educational needs
- Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with parents, external agencies, and colleagues
