Salon Supervisor / Front of House

We’re looking for an experienced, confident and organised Salon Supervisor and Front of House to join our team at Sorella in Woking.

This is much more than a traditional reception role. You’ll be right at the centre of a large, busy hair salon, helping to lead the day, supervise our apprentices, maintain high standards and make sure every client receives an exceptional experience.

You must have previous experience managing or supervising people and strong customer facing experience. Salon experience isn’t essential - you could come from retail, hospitality, leisure, beauty or another busy customer focused environment.

What matters is that you’re great with people, calm under pressure, confident leading others and naturally look for ways to make things better.

The Role:

You’ll be responsible for:

• leading the Front of House experience and making sure clients feel genuinely looked after
• managing appointments, calls, messages, payments and the general flow of the salon
• supervising and supporting our apprentices throughout the day
• giving clear direction and making sure jobs are completed to the expected standard
• maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness, presentation and client care
• dealing confidently and professionally with client queries or issues
• supporting & managing communication across the salon team
• spotting what needs doing and taking ownership of it
• looking for ways to improve the salon and customer experience
• opening up and closing down of the salon

We don’t want someone who simply checks clients in and takes payments. We want someone who notices if a client has been waiting, sees when something could be improved and takes action without always needing to be asked.

You need to be comfortable in a VERY busy environment

Sorella is a large, busy and sometimes noisy salon with lots of clients, stylists and apprentices in the building.

You may have several people needing you at once, so you need to be able to stay calm, prioritise and think clearly under pressure.

If you enjoy being busy and like being the person who keeps everything moving, then you’ll love it.

This is a hands-on role – it is not a desk-based reception job. You will be on your feet for most, if not all, of the day and everyone gets stuck in. That may mean sweeping hair, helping with towels and laundry, making refreshments, cleaning, supporting stylists and, where needed, being trained to wash clients’ hair.

We’re looking for someone who leads by example and is happy to help wherever they’re needed.

Experience managing younger employees, trainees or apprentices would be a big advantage.

Working closely with the owners:

You’ll work closely with Sorella’s two owners and will play an important part in helping us maintain standards across the salon.

This means being approachable and supportive with the team, while also understanding that this is a supervisory role. You need to be comfortable giving clear direction, addressing issues when standards slip and having straightforward conversations when something isn’t being done properly.

We’re looking for someone who can build good relationships with the team without losing sight of their responsibility to help lead, manage and uphold the standards of the business.

You’ll be expected to raise concerns with us, follow things through and help make sure expectations are consistently met.

Opportunity to Progress:

This is a role you can really make your own.

For the right person, there is scope to take on more responsibility and potentially progress into a Salon Manager position.

We’re looking for someone who wants to help us improve the salon, not simply operate it.

Hours:

This is a full-time position with fixed core hours.

You will also need to be flexible enough to cover additional hours for team holidays and busy periods when required.

Mondays - 10:00 - 6:15 (every other)
Tuesdays - 11:00 - 8:15
Wednesdays - 10:00 - 6:15 (every other)
Thursdays - 8:30 - 5:00
Fridays - 8:30 - 6:15
Saturdays - 8:30 - 5:45 (one off a month)

Average weekly hours: 38
