About The Evewell:

The Evewell is a group of currently two independent prestigious private clinics at Harley Street and West London specialising in gynaecology and fertility treatments. Each Evewell clinic is a fully-integrated centre of medical excellence dedicated to caring for and protecting all aspects of a woman’s gynaecological and reproductive health.

Role Overview:

We are seeking Junior Fertility Nurses or Midwifes across both sites to carry out all necessary duties required as a fertility and gynaecology nurse or midwife specialist, particularly relating to patient care, information counselling, treatment, dispensing and administration of drugs under the clinic direction of the nominated ‘person responsible’ under the provision of the Human Fertilisation & Embryology Act 1990 and its subsequent revisions. We are looking for candidates who demonstrate strong interpersonal communication skills, empathy for others, as well as attention to detail.

Location: The Evewell Harley Street (London W1G)

This is a clinical role which must be undertaken on-site. There will be no opportunity for remote/home working.

Job type: Permanent

Hours: 40 hours per week, 10 hours per day, 4 days per week, 8am to 6pm, on-call phone rota and 1:3 weekend rota

Salary: £35,000-£37,500 per annum

Salary is dependent upon experience and abilities

Experience/Qualifications:, Nursing experience of 1 year mandatory, Fertility Nursing 1 year (preferred)

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Fully understand The Evewell’s clinical protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), patient information and consent forms
  • Deal with telephone and e-mail enquiries in a professional manner and ensure that all information given is up to date and accurate
  • Contemporaneously ensure all offered treatment, advice, treatment cycles and outcomes are recorded in line with current HFEA guidelines and requirements and SOPs
  • Possess a working knowledge of his/her patient’s drug regimes and treatment plans
  • Document all information relating to patients and treatment in patient notes in MedITEX
  • Perform venepuncture, interpret and give blood results when necessary and trained to do so
  • Co-ordinate treatment cycle plans and teach patients to self-administer fertility drugs
  • Obtain informed consent from patients within HFEA code of practice guidelines
  • Inform patients about implications of treatment and provide information and support throughout treatment cycle
  • Assist with ultrasound scanning (following adequate training)
  • Prepare theatre for egg retrieval, embryo transfer, insertion of IUCD, cervical dilatation, surgical sperm retrieval and gynaecological procedures
  • Assist in theatre as necessary
  • Recover patients following IV sedation
  • Perform and supervise intrauterine insemination procedures following adequate training
  • Perform pregnancy test and inform patient of results
  • Collect specimens, label and despatch to external laboratory (including phlebotomy) as per clinic SOPs
  • Support patients during egg recovery and embryo replacement procedures and other treatment, giving advice where necessary
  • Scrub and circulate in the operating theatre
  • Admit, discharge and escort patients to and from reception to the recovery area
  • Ensure that patients are comfortable following procedures
  • Scan patients in theatre when undergoing embryo transfer following adequate training
  • Be able to provide cover for ill health or emergencies for other nursing staff
  • Participate in a weekend and out-of-hours rota
  • Prepare and clean consultation rooms for gynaecological procedures
  • Support patients pre- and post-gynaecology exam
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times

General

  • Comply with the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority’s Code of Practice, the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014, the Care Quality Commission (Registration) Regulations 2009 and the Data Protection Act 2018, with special reference to patient confidentiality
  • Comply with The Evewell’s health & safety policies with particular reference to procedures to be followed in the event of a fire and to report all accidents and untoward incidents to the health & safety officer
  • Undertake mandatory training as required, including health & safety, fire, manual handling
  • Comply with infection control, CQC and safeguarding policies and procedures
  • Competent in basic life support and immediate life support
