Boomer Industries is a long-established plastics manufacturing business supplying a wide range of high-quality products to customers across multiple sectors. As part of ongoing growth and development, Boomer Industries is seeking an experienced Quality Control Officer, reporting to the Quality Manager, to monitor, inspect, test, and evaluate products and processes to ensure compliance with quality standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements. The Quality Control Officer plays a key role in maintaining product quality, reducing defects, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections and quality checks on raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished products.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
  • Perform testing and measurements using appropriate inspection equipment and tools.
  • Record, analyse, and report quality inspection results.
  • Identify non-conforming products and raise corrective action requests where necessary.
  • Investigate quality issues and support root cause analysis activities.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain quality control documentation, records, and reports.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Work closely with production, engineering, and management teams to resolve quality concerns.
  • Assist in developing and improving quality control procedures and work instructions.
  • Monitor calibration and maintenance of inspection and testing equipment.
  • Promote a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement throughout the organisation.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Experience in a quality control, quality assurance, or manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and procedures.
  • Experience using inspection, measurement, and testing equipment.
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be willing to work rotating shifts, including days and nights.

Qualifications

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) including Mathematics and English.
  • HNC/HND, Diploma, or Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Management, or a related discipline (desirable).
  • Quality-related certifications (e.g., Internal Auditor, Lean Six Sigma, CQI qualifications) are advantageous.
