Full job description
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.
The role:
To support effective clinical care by providing an efficient Health Records service to patients in a ward environment. The post holder will ensure patients' health records are administered and processed accurately while maintaining confidentiality.
The post holder will provide cover across multiple wards as required and undertake duties including patient reception, answering telephone calls, appointment booking, and maintaining demographic information on the patient management system.
This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Heath and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS).
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
- Permanent, Part-time
- Shift pattern - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday 08.00-1300 - Thurs 08.00 -11.21
- Base location - Glasgow Royal Infirmary
Key responsibilities:
- Provide an efficient Health Records service within a ward environment.
- Process and administer patient health records accurately and confidentially.
- Welcome and receive patients attending the ward.
- Answer telephone enquiries professionally and efficiently.
- Book and manage patient appointments.
- Maintain and update patient demographic information on the patient management system.
- Provide administrative support across multiple wards when required.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
- Previous clerical and/or reception experience.
- Experience working with the general public in a customer service environment.
- Good organisational skills.
- Good keyboard and data entry skills.
- Strong communication skills.
- Proficiency in the use of computer systems and related software.
