Full job description

Join our team as a CI Document Developer and play a vital role in driving operational excellence through clear, impactful documentation that transforms how we work.

If you're an organised and detail-oriented professional you'll be a key part to support the development of clear, effective documentation that helps drive operational consistency and continuous improvement across the business.

This role is responsible for translating operational processes into easy-to-follow documentation that supports training, quality, safety and day-to-day operations. Working closely with operational teams and subject matter experts, you will ensure procedures remain accurate, current and accessible while helping to improve the way information is communicated throughout the organisation.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining technical writing with process improvement and collaboration.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Develop and maintain a wide range of operational documents, ensuring they are accurate, consistent and easy to understand
  • Observe and document existing processes, identifying opportunities to improve clarity, efficiency and standardisation
  • Produce documentation such as operating procedures, work instructions, visual guides, process maps, checklists, equipment setup guides and training materials
  • Work alongside production, engineering, quality and continuous improvement teams to capture best practice and ensure documentation reflects current methods
  • Review existing documents regularly, updating them to reflect operational or legislative changes
  • Incorporate photographs, diagrams, flowcharts and other visual aids to improve user understanding
  • Support the rollout of new procedures by creating documentation suitable for training and onboarding
  • Ensure all controlled documents follow agreed formatting, version control and document management standards
  • Assist with internal audits by ensuring documentation remains compliant and readily available
  • Help embed a culture of continuous improvement by supporting the standardisation of processes across operational areas
  • Produce reports and analyse operational data where required to support improvement activities
  • Contribute to improvement projects by documenting new processes and maintaining accurate records throughout implementation

Experience Wise

  • Previous experience creating technical or operational documentation within a business environment
  • Confidence working with multiple stakeholders to gather information and document complex processes
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Word and Excel
  • Experience within manufacturing, engineering, logistics or another operational environment would be advantageous

Knowledge & Skills

  • Excellent written communication with the ability to simplify technical information for a wide audience
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality documentation
  • Experience creating process maps, visual work instructions and structured documentation
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Comfortable analysing information and identifying opportunities to improve documentation and working practices
  • Understanding of document control and version management principles
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement or operational excellence initiatives is desirable

Personal Attributes

The successful candidate will be:

  • Naturally organised with excellent planning skills
  • Curious and eager to understand how processes work
  • Comfortable working with people at all levels of the organisation
  • Proactive in identifying improvements rather than simply recording existing practices
  • Adaptable and able to manage changing priorities
  • Committed to maintaining high standards of accuracy and consistency
  • A collaborative team player with a positive approach to problem solving

Success in the Role

Success will be measured by the quality, accuracy and effectiveness of documentation produced, along with your ability to support process standardisation, improve knowledge sharing and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Your work will help ensure employees have access to clear, reliable information that supports safe, efficient and consistent operations across the business.
