About Us

Nurse Call is a well-established care at home service with an additional registered nursing service, proudly graded ‘Excellent’ (6s) by the Care Inspectorate.

We are a close-knit, nurse-led team of carers, senior carers, team leaders and registered nurses. Due to ongoing client expansion, we are looking for the right person to join us — someone kind, capable, and committed to delivering truly person-centred care.

The Role

We are recruiting for either a Healthcare Assistant or a Senior Healthcare Assistant, depending on experience and qualifications.

This role supports our Care at Home clients, delivering high-quality, unrushed care in people’s own homes — with registered nurses always available for guidance and support.

Working pattern:

  • 37.5 hours per week
  • 3–3.5 long shifts per week
  • Shifts generally run 7am–10pm
  • Working every second weekend

We take time to introduce you to clients properly, ensure you are confident with care plans, and never expect staff to feel rushed or unsupported.

Who We’re Looking For

This role is ideally suited to someone who brings natural kindness, professionalism, and pride in their work.

Healthcare Assistant:

  • SVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care or willingness to work towards it (with our support)
  • Previous care experience essential
  • Community experience is a bonus

Senior Healthcare Assistant:

  • SVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care
  • Experience supporting others and preferably working with confidence in the community

Essential requirements:

  • Full rights to work in the UK (no sponsorship currently available)
  • Full UK driving license
  • Access to your own vehicle

(Pool cars available if your car is temporarily unavailable)

  • Ability to obtain:
  • 3 references (2 professional, 1 character)
  • Satisfactory PVG check

Purpose of the Role

You will support Nurse Call clients with all aspects of day-to-day living, enabling them to enjoy the best possible quality of life in their own homes.

You may work independently with clients, but you are never alone — our nurses and management team are always on hand.

Key qualities we value:

  • Compassion and honesty
  • Strong communication skills
  • Good time management
  • A calm, caring, and respectful manner

  • Mileage paid at £0.45 per mile (from your first client of the day)
  • Uniform (tunic) and ID provided
  • PVG fee refunded in your first pay
  • Ongoing training and development – free of charge
  • SVQ opportunities following probationary period
  • 24-hour clinical support from our registered nursing team
  • Smartphone app to manage shifts, requests and holidays
