Here at Country Style Foods we are currently looking for a Day Shift Hygiene Shift Manager to join our Hygiene Department.

Our shift pattern is as follows:

Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Saturday, Sunday

Week 2: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

Day shift hours are 06:00 – 18:00.

What does the role entail?

The main purposes of the role will be to:

Manage a team of 7 Hygiene Operatives ensuring the highest standards of hygiene cleaning are set consistently for all areas within the site.

To ensure factory equipment and fabrications are cleaned to the highest standard and to maintain a site free of pathogen, pests and other contaminants whilst ensuring that collectively we deliver best practice in relation to health and safety, employee welfare, hygiene and food safety.

To train, develop and engage a team of Hygiene Operatives ensuring that as a business we have committed entirely to the development of our employees with an end result of fully trained specialist deep clean operatives who are confident to carry out all tasks required.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • To liaise with the production manager and line leaders to ensure that cleaning windows are planned in accordance with operations delivery targets.
  • To identify opportunities for improvement/innovation and to develop and implement action plans in conjunction with the Hygiene Manager/Engineering Manager to maximize potential benefits of such opportunities for the business.
  • Ensure best practice is adopted and update these to achieve delivery of food safety, inclusive of: Level of equipment dismantling / method / frequency / staffing, chemical specification / products / strengths / cost, equipment requirements / modifications / support
  • To ensure all resources are available to facilitate continuity of hygiene operation, including but not limited to plant, equipment, cleaning materials, labour, skills & other.
  • To minimise production downtime associated with hygiene but also encourage and assist to enforce a CAYG behaviour for production.
  • To continually raise the standard of cleanliness of your prescribed area(s) of control through GMP.
  • To maintain visual management systems such as performance tracking to boost communication and promote interest.
  • Conduct frequent reviews and documented audits on post hygiene, during hygiene and sanitization standards, taking appropriate action at the time to address issues, feedback issues / actions taken and long term solutions (as directed by a hygiene manager)
  • Personally challenge existing practices and suggest improvement recommendations.
  • To liaise with the production planner and scheduler to ensure that cleaning windows are planned in accordance with operations delivery targets.

People:

  • To manage HR aspects such as development, absence, motivation, attendance, punctuality, discipline fairly and in accordance with site policies and procedures.
  • To lead by example by displaying behaviours consistent with organisational culture at all times. Demonstrate motivational leadership in the workplace including exercising fairness and equality, addressing personal issues / conflict professionally and sensitively.
  • To continuously monitor training and development, identifying skill gaps within your team and train accordingly ensuring that all staff are fully trained in relation to core skills such as induction training, CIC's, COSHH, CCP's, H&S, KPI's & other, ensuring records are documented and maintained.
  • Promote quality to your team as key performance measures ensuring quality standards are at best maintained and improved where scope exists.

Other:

  • Meet all Health and Safety responsibilities and promote safe working practices and monitor/record accidents and near miss incidents.

Qualifications and Criteria

  • HACCP trained
  • COSHH trained
  • Train the trainer qualification would be an advantage but not essential
  • Experience managing a team of people
  • Experience within a Hygiene Department within a food factory
  • Confident using technology / Microsoft excel, outlook etc
