Head of Governance
Location: Manchester, The Christie Private Care and The Wilmslow Hospital, including satellite sites
Contract: Full time, Permanent

We’re looking for an experienced Head of Governance to join our senior management team based across The Christie Private Care and The Wilmslow Hospital; both rated ‘Outstanding’ by CQC.

As the Head of Governance, you’ll support the Senior Management team across the two sites with responsibility and accountability for ensuring they meet and exceed the necessary requirements of all regulatory, compliance and accreditation bodies. The Head of Governance provides clear robust guidance and support to all members of the Senior Management Team and will influence the culture and behaviours as part of a coordinated governance program.

You will bring inspiration, innovation and pragmatism to this key role, and will demonstrate a strong track record of delivery and investment in clinical governance, quality provision and assurance processes across a complex healthcare organisation. You will be a highly effective communicator, confident to deal with a wide range of stakeholder and will be able to provide excellent written reports, presentation and complaints responses.

What you’ll do:

  • Support the Senior Management team to ensure all services are legally registered within the statutory and regulatory frameworks and are meeting the CQC essential standards and outcomes and all future regulatory assessment/investigation approaches.

  • Provide a coordinated approach to the analysis of incidents, complaints, and performance metrics such that opportunities for quality improvement are identified in line with the requirements under PSIRF.

  • Provide leadership for the facility to ensure a patient focused quality governance agenda is defined and reported via reports and presentations to the Senior Management Team.

  • Responsible for ensuring that quality and risk management is embedded throughout the hospital by providing support, advice and guidance on all aspects of quality governance.

  • Support the Quality and Facility Matrons with complaint investigations, liaising with distressed and bereaved families and work together for improvement.

What you’ll bring:

  • A Healthcare management, Quality Management Qualification or equivalent experience.

  • Educated to Degree level

  • Extensive and demonstrable knowledge of the UK governance, regulatory and legislative framework.

  • Experience in or a thorough knowledge of clinical audit activities and associated governance and improvement programmes.

  • Demonstrable experience in managing complaints investigations

  • Extensive experience of implementing Quality, Regulatory Compliance, Governance and risk management frameworks.

  • Experience of patient safety investigations

  • The ability to analyse and critically appraise complex information.

  • Change management and business redesign.

  • Well-developed leadership and influencing skills with the ability to enthuse, motivate and involve individuals and team.

  • Collaborative approach with Senior Management and Clinicians
