Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Animal Care Assistant to join our veterinary dental team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about animal welfare and seeking to develop their skills within a professional environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the daily care and management of animals, supporting veterinary procedures, and maintaining a clean and safe workspace.

Previous experience in veterinary or dental settings is highly desirable, though training will be provided for the right candidate. This paid position is ideal for those looking to work in a close knit group - who are dedicated to providing the best possible care to patients and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the dental operative taks of the practice
  • The daily care of in-patient animals
  • Assisting pre and post surgery
  • Assisting the Veterinary Dentists during operations
  • Support veterinary staff during examinations, treatments, and procedures
  • Maintain accurate records of animal health, treatments, and behaviour observations
  • Clean and disinfect animal enclosures, equipment, and work areas to uphold high standards of hygiene
  • Assist with inventory management of supplies and ensure proper storage of materials
  • Follow health and safety guidelines to maintain a safe working environment for staff and animals

Experience

  • Prior experience in veterinary clinics, dental practices, laboratories, or animal care environments is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates
  • Knowledge of animal behaviour and welfare practices is advantageous
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail are essential for maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with protocols
  • Attention to detail and ability to consistently follow procedures
  • Compassionate attitude towards animals coupled with excellent communication skills are vital for success in this role
