Full job description

An exciting opportunity from a multi-faceted IT consultancy company has arisen for a structured cabling and installation engineer to support our growing business. We offer in-house cabling solutions to new and existing clients primarily in the Midlands area. The right candidate should have excellent interpersonal skills, good technical knowledge, be self-motivated and able to work under pressure and work with our helpdesk team to complete jobs to a very high standard. They should also be self-motivated, good at problem solving and be able to dynamically adapt for a changing situation.

Role:

The candidate would be responsible for the installation and maintenance of data, CCTV and alarm cables, diagnosing faults and re-running cables where necessary. Assisting with the IT and telecommunications side of the company, installation and servicing of CCTV systems and maintenance of Intruder alarm systems.

At times between jobs you will assist with the IT service which involves collection and delivery of IT equipment, installing computers and other IT hardware and taking calls for the IT helpdesk.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Installation of data networks, terminating and testing of data and voice cables on a job and completing to the highest standard.
- Data network fault finding
- CCTV installation, cabling and configuration.
- Alarm servicing and installation
- VoIP Telephony installation
- Flexibility is essential to the role, varied working hours and frequent travel throughout the midlands and at times across the nation.
- Having a good understanding of how a job needs to be run from start to finish and take initiative where required.
- Mainly working alone, but being accompanied by one of our engineers on bigger jobs where required.

Skills Required:
- 3 Years Data cabling CAT5e and CAT6
- Voice and fibre optics, cabinet tidies and containment installation. i.e trunking, conduit and cable trays.
- Basic understanding of network systems
- Problem solving
- Strong customer facing skills
- Flexible approach to work, with the ability to work under pressure and be able to independently adapt.
- Ability to work in a team and on their own with little supervision using own initiative.
- Willingness to travel to various sites throughout the midlands and occasionally further afield. There will be up to 10 overnight stays per year to service clients further away.
- Be very proficient with a laptop and co-ordinate with our engineers at the office to complete installations.
- We undertake some jobs on behalf of a 3rd party, so the right candidate would also be installing products such as: electronic door locks, basic residential alarm systems and residential CCTV systems.
- Must have full UK driving license.

Hours: 8am – 5pm Monday-Friday
