Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated & experienced Fish & Chip Shop Assistant to join our team in providing excellent customer service and supporting daily operations within our establishment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, experience in restaurant or kitchen environments, and a keen eye for detail. This role offers an opportunity to develop culinary and hospitality skills while contributing to a welcoming and efficient service environment. The Shop Assistant will be responsible for assisting with food preparation, serving customers, and maintaining high standards of food safety and cleanliness.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare food items according to established recipes and standards, ensuring quality and presentation.
  • Serve customers efficiently, taking orders accurately and providing friendly assistance.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the shop area, including kitchen and serving spaces.
  • Uphold food safety standards at all times, adhering to hygiene protocols.
  • Assist with basic kitchen tasks such as ingredient organisation, stock replenishment, and equipment cleaning.
  • Support upselling initiatives by suggesting additional items or specials to customers to enhance their experience.
  • Manage time effectively during busy periods to ensure prompt service and order fulfilment.
  • Handle cash transactions accurately and process payments using the point-of-sale system.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a restaurant, café, or food service environment is required.
  • Knowledge of food preparation techniques and food safety regulations.
  • Basic maths skills for handling transactions and stock counts.
  • Experience with serving customers in a fast-paced setting.
  • Kitchen or culinary experience is advantageous but not essential; willingness to learn is key.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively during busy periods.
