Digital Marketing Designer (AI-Powered): Meta Ads, Websites & Landing Pages

Tyneside Marketing · North Tyneside (Office Based) · Part-time, c.25 hours a week · Accredited Real Living Wage Employer

The future of design in digital marketing is taste.

With tools like Claude Code, image models and AI video models, one person can now produce the ads, landing pages, websites and video that used to take a designer, a developer and a video editor. Making things is no longer the hard part. Knowing which ad earns the click, which page earns the enquiry and what's quietly costing a client leads is. Designers with taste who use AI to ship are replacing designers who don't.

We're looking for a designer who is passionate about design and about what it does for a business: the ad that stops the scroll, the landing page that converts, the website that ranks and generates leads. You'll help us create creative and websites that grow revenue for a diverse portfolio of local clients.

Tyneside Marketing is a small, agile North East agency helping local businesses grow through high-performing websites, SEO/AEO, and paid ads on Google, Meta and more. Our founder brings a client-obsessive mindset and over 20 years of business-building experience. An average client stays with us for 2+ years and counting. Over the past 18 months we've rebuilt how we work around AI tools, agents and large language models, and we're now hiring to build out our design capability.

This is a build-your-career role. You'll sit alongside our founder on real client accounts, owning the look, feel and quality of everything we put in front of customers. You make the design decisions. AI helps you implement them: building the landing page in code, cutting the video ad, producing variations at scale. This is not an "AI does it all" job. Anyone can prompt a model into producing something average. We need someone who can see exactly what's wrong with it and make it right.

What you'll do

  • Design and ship Meta ad creative: static, carousel and short-form video for Instagram and Facebook
  • Use AI video and image models to produce high-quality ads, with real craft in the direction, editing and finish
  • Design and build landing pages and complete websites, using AI coding agents (Claude Code) to turn your designs into live, fast, working pages
  • Develop and improve client brands where they need it: logos, colour, type and simple brand guidelines, so everything we make looks like the client and converts
  • Support client photography: help plan and direct shoots, capture or source images, and edit and retouch them. Some on-location work in the North East, and AI image tools to extend and enhance what you shoot
  • Look at performance data (CTR, CPL, conversion rate) and iterate: what worked, what didn't, what to test next
  • Take briefs, present work to clients and respond to feedback
  • Use AI tools every day, on real client work

You won't do it alone at first. You'll work alongside our founder to develop your process, taking more ownership as you go.

We don't ship vibe-coded slop

Let's be clear about what this isn't. We don't prompt a model, publish whatever comes out and call it a website. Every site and landing page we make starts with a designer's decisions, is built and checked by people who care about the details, and goes live with in-house SEO and AEO expertise behind it. Our SEO expertise sits in the same office, not in another department or an outsourced team. Pages are planned around what people actually search for, structured so Google and AI answer engines can understand and cite them, and measured against real traffic and leads. You'll design for how people look at a page and how search engines read it, and you'll see the results in the numbers.

You will probably succeed if

  • You have strong design fundamentals: layout, typography, colour, hierarchy, spacing. You can explain why something works
  • You can take a decent photo, or you're keen to learn. Photography experience is a bonus, not a requirement
  • You have a portfolio (or a collection of projects) that shows real taste, whether from jobs, freelance, placements, university or personal projects
  • You use AI tools every day as a habit, not a gimmick, and you're excited by what Claude Code, image models and video models can do
  • You see AI as your production team, and you're the creative director. You're comfortable directing, editing and overruling it
  • You have taste: you can tell good work from AI slop, and it really bothers you when it's slop. Details really matter here
  • You're happy to learn how a landing page or site is built, even if you're not a developer. We'll teach the stack (Astro, Sanity); you bring the eye
  • You're keen to learn how design decisions affect SEO, speed and conversion, and to work with our in-house search team on it
  • You care whether the work performs. A beautiful ad that doesn't generate leads isn't finished
  • You're self-motivated, accept feedback well and are happy to be wrong. Trial, error and rapid iteration are how we work
  • You're able to work from our North Tyneside office
  • You have the right to work in the UK

You will not succeed if

  • You think AI is overhyped, or scary, or a threat to "real" design
  • You'd rather hand designs off to someone else than see them through to live
  • You want a purely creative role with no accountability for results
  • You need step-by-step instructions for everything
  • You don't like being challenged, or change
  • You think "it looks good" is the finish line, or you're happy to publish AI output without scrutiny
  • You'd be happy with "good enough"

What we offer

  • A salary that meets or beats the Real Living Wage. We're an accredited Real Living Wage employer, so this is not a minimum-wage role
  • We aim to move the right person to full-time hours and a higher salary within your first six months, depending on performance and need, with responsibility, hours and salary growing together
  • A generous AI tooling budget: Claude, image and video models, whatever you need
  • Direct mentorship from the founder on every client
  • Part-time hours (c.25 a week) in our North Tyneside office
  • A genuinely valuable, in-demand skill set, and real influence over results for the businesses we serve

How to apply

Apply right here on Indeed. Please attach two things: your CV and a separate cover letter.

Also include a link to your portfolio or a few pieces of work you're proud of. We'd rather see 3 great things than 30 average ones.

Details matter to us, so to show you've read this Job Description in full and that details also matter to you, your cover letter should open with the line "Taste is the job." and then tell us, in a sentence or two, about how you've been using AI recently to support your design work. Use the rest of the cover letter to tell us about you, why you'd be a great fit for our agency and why our agency would be a great fit for you.

Applications without a separate cover letter, a portfolio link, or that miss that opening line won't be reviewed. Details matter.

We'll use your application data only to assess your application and manage our recruitment process, and we'll delete it when it's no longer needed.

Expected hours: 25.0 per week
