Summary

NHS Professionals are looking for experienced Nursery Assistants to join the bank to support the Children’s nursery at University Hospital Southampton. There are two sites – Southampton General Hospital & Western Community Hospital. Offering the highest standards of childcare, our nurseries have dedicated teams of experienced professionals who are committed to helping children from three-months – five years old get the best possible start in life.

£12.92 per hour

Offer fixable working hours between Monday to Friday 0645-1830

The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with young children and possess the ability to create a nurturing and stimulating environment. This role involves supporting the daily activities of the nursery, ensuring the safety and well-being of all children, and fostering their development through engaging play and learning experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of educational activities that promote early childhood development.
  • Supervise and engage with children during playtime, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
  • Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues in English to foster positive relationships.
  • Support the lead nursery staff in managing daily routines and maintaining a clean, organised space.
  • Observe children's behaviour and development, providing feedback to senior staff as necessary.
  • Assist with basic administrative tasks related to nursery operations.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in childcare or early childhood education (between 0-5 years old) is a must within last 2 years.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage groups of children effectively while demonstrating leadership qualities.
  • A genuine interest in nurturing children's growth and development
  • A commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all children in your care.
