Job Summary

We are a friendly, rural Doctor's surgery seeking an enthusiastic person with good communication skills, to join our lovely Reception Team.

This Receptionist role will have a fixed shift pattern – Monday 12:00 to 18:00 pm Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoon 13:00 to 19:00 pm. This role will also require some flexibility as you will be required to work additional hours to cover holiday and sickness from time to time.

The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for patients, providing warm welcome to patients and visitors, so excellent customer care skills are essential, even under challenging circumstances.

This role requires excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and a compassionate approach to patient care. The successful candidate will be required to assist patients with their appointment requests and queries, answer telephones as well as general administrative duties including using the practice computer system (EMIS).

Whilst we would prefer you to have previous medical reception / customer-facing experience, this is not essential as we will provide full on the job training.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to transition into the administrative side of General Practice. The successful candidate will have the chance to develop their skills and progress into other areas of administrative responsibility within the practice as opportunities arise.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in an administrative or office role, preferably within a healthcare setting.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and with a good level of written English, with a friendly demeanour.
  • Ability to learn new IT systems and proficiency in using office software. Knowledge of Emis will be an advantage but not essential.
  • A keen attention to detail and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being self-motivated.
  • Have a proven track record of confidentiality, flexibility and reliability
  • Own transport is essential as there is not suitable public transport to the surgery.

In return we offer:

  • Hourly rate £12.71 per hour
  • 28 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays pro rata to the number of hours worked
  • Generous NHS Pension
  • Free surgery car park
  • Free refreshments
  • NHS discount at a variety of retailers

The Bucklebury Practice is an equal opportunities employer with a commitment to safeguarding its patients.
