Full job description
Specialist - Paediatric APT
We are looking for an experienced anatomical pathology technologist to work as a specialist and team lead to assist with the provision of an efficient and smooth-running mortuary service. The John Radcliffe mortuary provides a post mortem service to the Trust and HM coroner for both adult and paediatric post mortems. As a specialist paediatric centre the mortuary is a specialist referral centre for other hospitals.
The successful candidate should have demonstrable post-mortem experience, hold a BSc a in biological or forensic science subject and teh RSPH level 3 and 4 diplomas in anatomical pathology.
The post holder will be required to
Assist in the efficient organisation of the mortuary and post-mortem service.
Perform both adult and paediatric post-mortem procedures of varying complexity, some of which require a high degree of skill and experience.
Exercise autonomy within professional and managerial boundaries.
Deputise for the Mortuary manager in their absence.
Act as team lead - supervising and training junior staff.
Work at any of the mortuary sites within the Trust as and when required (3 sites, two within Oxford and 1 in Banbury)
Take part on the on call rota covering weekend, bank holiday and evening or night duties, which requires a flexible approach to hours of employment.
