How do you deal with unruly passengers? Give an example of a time where you successfully dealt with an angry/unruly passenger.

Unruly and angry passengers usually don't follow the cabin crew's instructions, risking other passengers' safety. The applicant should be capable of dealing with such passengers without intervention from the Pilot or other crew members. What to look for in an answer:

“If I were faced with the situation of dealing with an unruly passenger, I would first try to calm the passenger by asking the reason for misbehaving. I would provide a solution based on the protocols laid out by the airline. If the passenger still refuses to behave, I would seek help from other crew members and as a last resort report the matter to the Pilot.”

Have you ever faced a situation where a passenger gets sick during the flight and demands an emergency landing? What would you do?

The cabin crew may face in-flight medical emergencies due to various reasons. It could be because of a drop in air pressure or an existing ailment. Look for answers which showcase the applicant's ability to handle difficult situations. What to look for in an answer:

How do you deal with children who panic during landing and take-off?

Landing, take-off and mid-air turbulence can cause a drop in the air pressure resulting in aeroplane ear, which could irritate children causing them to panic. Through excellent customer service skills and presence of mind, a cabin crew member can soothe a crying child and ensure a pleasant experience for everyone. What to look for in an answer:

Cabin crew members may have to stay away from their family members because of different long-haul flights. Look for people who can adapt to such situations without getting eager to meet their family members. What to look for in an answer:

  • Ability to deal with personal emotions

You don't want to hire someone who cannot resolve conflicts with colleagues. The applicant should accept opposing views without getting upset or angry. What to look for in an answer:
