A Director of Operations should ideally have at least five years of experience working in a leadership role within a company, along with five years of prior experience in other roles. Experience dealing with a senior management team, board of directors, large budgets and high-end clients is extremely useful.

Director of Operations education and training requirements

A successful Director of Operations will require a solid background in business practises, procedures and terminology. Formal education will demonstrate that a candidate has the necessary knowledge to succeed. A-levels in business studies or economics are desirable, as is a degree in business, marketing or economics.
