What does an Enrolled Nurse do?
An Enrolled Nurse provides nursing care to patients in clinical settings. They work under the supervision of Registered Nurses to create a care plan for patients and evaluate the progress made. Enrolled Nurses have at least two years of Nursing training and may be the primary contact for their patients. They also provide assistance during emergencies and updates the patient’s records.
Enrolled Nurse skills and qualifications
An Enrolled Nurse needs a combination of nursing and clinical skills, customer service skills to attend to patients effectively and a desire to help people. A successful Enrolled Nurse candidate will also have various prerequisite skills and qualifications that typically include:

Enrolled Nurse experience requirements

Prior experience in clinical work, patient advocacy, patient assessment and familiarity with the concepts of ethical nursing and standards of care are required. Other requirements for an Enrolled Nurse will be determined by the employer.
Enrolled Nurse education and training requirements
The minimum education requirement for an Enrolled Nurse is a nursing degree (at least two years long). They may also pursue a nursing degree apprenticeship for at least four years, with on-the-job training. Enrolled Nurses must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). Other training requirements include short courses in adult nursing, paediatric nursing, safeguarding children, infection control in health care and health and safety training for healthcare workers. The employer will determine the specific training requirements and the place of work.
