What do I do as an On-Call Firefighter?

As an On-Call Firefighter, you will be required to attend a range of operational incidents. Our Firefighters deliver a range of Community Safety initiatives to reduce the number of fires, accidents and all associated injuries, often in partnership with other groups. This is a varied and exciting role for anyone, regardless of background, who wish to push themselves and help protect their community.

What availability is required?

On-Call Firefighters are required to respond to their community fire station when an incident occurs. The availability of potential firefighters is considered at the early stages through a discussion to ensure that it complements the requirements within the team. A retaining fee is paid for your availability along with additional payments for incidents, community activities and training attended. • live or work within a reasonable distance (6 minutes travelling time) of the On-Call fire station (you must obtain approval from your employer to attend emergencies during your working hours)
